I just watched another real find from the b-movie dead films box..

Silent Voice (1987) is a film about a 12 yr old applepie american boy (Chuck Murdock, played by Joshua Zuehlke) who gives up baseball (a sport he excels at) in protest against nuclear weapons.

It merits a small column in a local paper until a national baseball star decides to join him and then some of his team and eventually athletes worldwide join the cause.

In the denoument the US president and USSR supremo agree to dismantle their nuclear arsenals. Yes, its a dream and no, it didn't happen but this film talks to me about what I thought america was when I first heard about her, the boy who at 11 yrs old wept when JFK was shot.... and didn't sleep at all that night in November 1963..

It was a dream that shattered all too soon. Well anyway it was so cool to relive it again in this emotional movie.

Joshua Zuehlke is good in the lead role and a damned cute boy to boot. In fact this movie is 100% boy-centred which makes me suspect a bl hand in the production etc...

If boys ruled the world then I could dream about a free country again and hope would be the future not the past.

Watch Silent Voice (1987) aka "Amazing Grace and Chuck" (1987) - if you get a chance. It didn't accrue many votes (5.1 out of 10 in the ImdB but the pattern is suspiciously weighted..) I wonder if the NSA has people out voting on the internet ..... naw..... ????
