I have three of the Cirque du Soleil shows, two on VHS and one on DVD. SALTIMBANCO and NOUVELLE EXPERIENCE are on VHS and QUIDAM is on DVD. I throughly enjoy their performances.

I broke down and bought Billy Elliot the other day. I have mixed feelings about it. I don't think that Jamie made a convincing 11 y/o. From just the physical parts, he was showing his age. Then there was the dialogue and actions were too much "adult". I thought his dancing was not that good and in general the story didn't really develope the drama well. I did get a kick out Micheal being a poofter and I think most Americans would not catch the difference of the use of fanny. When the little girl was saying she would show him here fanny, she was talking about her twat and not her ass. :)

I think the Afterschool Special version of the farmers boy who took up ballet was better done then Billy Elliot. It actually had the boy doing ballet at his own age and not at 25. It also didn't have the overhead of the 1984 Miners strike cluttering the story. It was a drama between a father's feeling of his son not being manly and the love of his son.

I have a copy of that show somewhere on tape but right now I can't think of the boy's name that was in the show. I want to say Lance Kerwin but I'm sure I'm wrong on that account. I guess I need to find that tape.
