I have had only one DVD that I thought sucked as a transfer and it was a John Wayne film. I bought the disk awhile back so it has nothing to do with any suspected current transfer problems. I hadn't bought the DVD version of My Life as a Dog because I have it on laser disk and tape. I would be surprised if the quality was bad because of having an excellent digital source of the movie to work from.
