As an answer to: Who Killed Pixote? (1996) written by The Poor Farang am 09 Mar 2001 05:30:19:

No, PF. You've got me on those two. I'd read about "Who Killed Pixote," but have no idea how to obtain a copy. "Sacred Secrets" sounds good, too, but is entirely new to me.

I know you are quite the entrepreneur, as well as being a technical whizbang. So here's a little business idea for you. You can track down prints of rare boy-oriented films and documentaries from around the world, snap up the digital rights for a song, and then burn limited-edition DVDs in your secret computer lab at Los Alamos (oooops . . . or was that a secret?).

DVD-R is right around the corner, so we should be able to make our own DVDs to suit our "specialized" taste in entertainment. Here's how you can get ahold of the prints. Posing as a film festival organizer, contact likely film producers and solicit a "screening" copy of their film for consideration in your film festival. Then, when you get the film print, digitize it on one of those old Kaypros you keep out behind your garage, in the tool shed. Finally, turn the digital MPEG-II's into DVDs to share with your . . . ahem, friends. :o)

Seriously, unless the Pixote documentary has been subtitled or dubbed, it might be tough going for you (unless you understand Brazilian Portuguese). I'd rather doubt that the documentary would have quite as much appeal as the film itself, although I admit I'd be willing to watch it if it were available. I wonder if you could find a copy of "Sacred Secrets" on an Italian video site (that is, if you know the Italian title and are willing to invest in a PAL playback machine!).

Let us know how your quests are going, okay?
