My two recent disappointments

I agree with Phred about "Troll" being laughably bad. There are probably others from the past, but none come to mind.

So far there is only one DVD that I purchased and viewed that I now regret: "The Thief." Not that it is really all that bad of a movie; just kind of predictable in that Russian way. The boy actor is really cute, but then when they go to the public baths, we don't even get to enjoy the full monty. So what about the long European tradition of boy nudity in film?!?!?

Anyone want to buy a cheap Region 1 copy of "The Thief," only viewed once? :o)

Actually, I've pondered whether there was some way we could set up a DVD-tape exchange system here, but there is no way to do it that does not compromise someone's privacy, not to mention security. If anyone has any ideas along these lines, let me know. Of course, I'm talking about legit boy shows, not kiddie porn or anything fun like that. :o)

I was also disappointed when I recently saw the movie "Nico and Dani" in the theater. Again, it was not a bad film, really, and I think we should celebrate any film that honestly deals with teen sexuality. Yeah, I knew these were not really "boys" in the film, but I didn't expect them to look . . . well, so damned mature. They are supposed to be 16 in the movie, and I realize that some 16ers are early developers, but these actors are at least 18 and could easily be in their early 20s. For those who are curious, there is explicit sex implied in this movie: for instance, when they engage in mutual masturbation, you see them from the chest up, and it's obvious what they are supposed to be doing. When one teen initiates the other into oral sex, you see the back of the teen giving the sex, and of course the rest is blocked. Not that I was expecting XXX action, but I found myself checking my watch frequently, and it's not that long of a film. I didn't think either teen actor was especially cute, either.
