The last thing I heard about the former Mark McCain was that he was a bandleader and singer in Los Angeles, specializing in songs from the 1930's. His small orchestra had a regular gig at the Hollywood Athletic Club a few years ago; I'm not sure whether he's still at it. The one review I read was extremely positive & indicated that the evening took on a sort of "performance art" air--Johnny C. received kudos for his vocal stylings as well as his command of the baton. :)
My favorite Rifleman episode was the one where Lucas and Mark arrived at the ranch of the widowed schoolmarm. While Lucas spent his days mending fences and tending the herd, Mark helped the widow's shy, bespectacled son Clint overcome his fear of water by teaching him how to swim in Dawson's Pond.
Or maybe that's just wishphul thinking...
