aHA, so this is where the elite meet! I found my way here
while lurking on the Playground, where SS left a link.

Anyone seen that current boxoffice blockbuster The Mummy Returns?
It has some good things going for it, namely:

a) The captivating freckles across the bridge of the nose
of 9-year-old Freddie Boath, who plays the son of the
married main characters.

b) Everything else about this young British blond bombshell.
You don't have to be a boylover to agree that this kid not
only steals the show, he single-handedly saves it from total
turkeyhood.

c) There's a tricked out dirigible made from an old boat that
is way cool.

The movie itself is pretty ludicrous, but can best be endured
and possibly enjoyed if you think of it as a comic book brought to life,
or maybe a big-budget reincarnation of those preposterous but fun
cliffhanger serials from the 30s and 40s.
In that vein, the movie is more like a knockoff of the
Indiana Jones movies than a reincarnation of those fine
old Mummy horror films.

The boy starts out dressed in natty British school getup,
complete with coat, tie, and shorts. When he is kidnapped by the
bad guys, he thoughtfully leaves items of his clothing along
the way as clues for his parents in pursuit. Woo hoo!
Unfortunately, he is rescued before he has a chance to lose his
shirt, but we do get a couple of good closeups showing the downy
blond hairs on his arms capturing the light.

Rating: *** (three dust bunnies)
Dusty says: Check it out!
