Its a film about child abuse but there's nothing remotely sexual about it.... little Oliver (9) is being taken apart by his mother's new boyfriend and although his dad knows pretty much what is going on there is not much he can do because he is gay and living with a male lover.
OK he tries but the British legal system is not very helpful. Police, social workers and lawyers all get involved but young Olly is still getting batttered. His mother, a nurse is worried that her second relationship is doomed to failure. Her partner Frank obsesses about order in their home and thinks fondly of his abusive father. When she throws him out he returns blubbing and the bitch relents.
Its a familiar tale with a happy ending. Olly gets to live with his dad and friend. The bitch mother is allowed access but only after she renounces the brute boyfriend.
This film was made mostly by brit women and although it is a little slow at times and the message is a little turgid it works mostly. Little Sam Bould is a fine young actor and the most believable in the cast but how often do I say that about boy actors in adult movies??
Its true neverthless.
