Liam Aiken of course. No wait a minute, Joseph Cross, hang on.... OH its hopeless but in fact Joseph gets it by a whisker-free chin...

Both these boy actors are stunning. I wrote about Joseph below but until last week all I knew about Liam was that he was the boy who failed to get the Harry Potter role (basically because he is a yank).

So it was out of curiosity about this and having seen the trailer that I borrowed "Out of Africa" last week and first observed the chemistry between him and Miss Julia Roberts. The film itself suffers from being yet another american film, starring americans portraying italian emigres in Kenya would you believe. Ok when you scoot past the inevitable Hollywood pastiche, heavy use of improbable local colour (many kids in Kenya have never seen a live elephant let alone a group of them with nearby lions, giraffes, zebra and buck)...... and ocassionally slack adult acting, Liam is a treat. As Julia's son they bleached his hair which I give a thumbs-up here. This kid has a pixy cuteness which is totally beguiling, he is also a gifted and entirely convincing actor who has me sitting on the edge of my chair.

More recently I watched him and La Roberts in "Stepmom" a film I avoided up to now because of its title. It costars the excellent Ms Sarandon and in fact is very good.

A scene not to miss is Liam (back to his normal dark hair) belting out the Marvin Gaye/Tammy Tyrell version of "Ain't no mountain high enough". Rock on! This kid enjoys his work immensely and it shows.

Now here's a Kabby tip for Hollywood. Cast Joseph Cross and Liam together a la Radio Flyer, Cure or The Good Son and let's really watch the sparks fly.
