"Dewey" in "Joe Dirt"

As anyone who watched tonight's re-run of MiM already knows (unless you slipped away during the commercials to get a beer or have a quick pee), Erik Per Sullivan plays the young version of the character in the new David Spade film.
It was interesting how they tailored the ad for "Dewey" fans. Unless you knew better (and we do!), you'd think Eric was the main star instead of just "Joe Dirt" in a few flashbacks.
I never cared for David Spade. I'd hate to think that Erik would grow up to be anything like him.
On the plus side, the young "Joe Dirt" wears a short-short shirt that shows his midriff. On the negative side, this film looks like a real dud.
