That seems to be the new price everywhere

. . . with discounts, even, from Buy.com and a half-price used one for the adventurous!

The reason I use Amazon.com as a primary reference is that they seem to have nearly everything in print, they always have decent scans of the cover art (even available enlarged!), there are often customer reviews included which are helpful, and their recommendation engine seems pretty powerful. However, I've never actually bought a movie from them yet!!!

I have most of the films on my personal "DVD must-have list." I hit a bit of good luck when the local branch of a major chain of music stores announced they were going out of business and having a big inventory clearance sale. I got some DVDs at 25% off, a bunch a week later at 30% off (including the Criterion Collection "Lord of the Flies"), and today I bought "Emerald Forest" and "Wide Awake" at 40% off. I figure next week the discount will end up at 50%, not that there is much of anything left I really want to buy. Then last week I got my first shipment from the DVD club that I mentioned down below. I now have 20 DVDs and still no DVD player!!!!

Oh, yeah, and another stroke of luck. While we were watching the Oscars last week, the movie "Billy Elliot" was mentioned, and Mrs. Sensitive Stephen remarked, "You know, that was supposed to be a really good movie. I wish I had gone to see that." At which her husband nonchalantly replied, "I think I saw that on Amazon.com with a big 30% discount for an advance order . . . I should order a copy for us, don't you think?"
