I had Pixote DVD ordered, but it fizzled. Release date was supposed to be March 13, 2001. Sounds like somebody screwed up, big time??? Perhaps Amazon and their buddies don't "fala Portuguese"? Amazon has changed the release date to 1/1/2010. I would hope it is not that bad, but it will be a while.
To console myself, I've been buying up all the Neapolitan Boy films that I can find! I assume everyone else has heard the rumors of those Neapolitan boys? What is it that goes on over there, on the north slope of Vesuvius? Naples has to be a good substitute for Sao Paulo, doesn't it?
And as soon as I've watched them all, I'll report back to this group. Heck, I already know all the Italian cuss words and toilet words. And I've learned to respect the Camorra! (Or else!)
Why if SS will allow it, I could even review the Paintings and etchings on the walls of Pompeii on the south side of the volcano - you know, the ones that the English speaking tours fail to mention??? It's not up to da Vinci quality, but I like it and it kind of proves that puberty occurs several years earlier today, than way back when Pompeii was volcano-fried! I do have Pelle the Conqueror, but not the DVD. But Sweden and Denmark are simply to far North to qualify as Neopolitan. So watch for my report on my personal Neapolitan Boy Film Festival report, if I can ever stop watching them long enough to write it.
