As an answer to: At your risks... There are real problem with that thing like AzzyRealTimeChat. written by Purple Panther Cat am 26 Mar 2001 04:14:45:

I know what you mean about the dangers of impersonation. So far there has not been any sign of these kinds of problems here, but I started using the "forummaster" password that makes my name yellow on the index when BC went down, just in case a troublemaker (like Echols, I mean) bothered to come over here. This way, when my name is yellow, you know it's really me and not some impersonator. Or else that I forgot to put in the password. :o)

This board script has a feature of "regular users" that is a bit like registered nicks. I figured I would not offer it unless someone asked. Now that you've asked, I can say that I am happy to register anyone as a "regular user" upon request (my e-mail address is on the main message index at the top--use Opera until mailandnews comes back). You'd need to send the nickname you want to register, a brief password (please don't send me a password that you use for other places--I promise to keep it private of course but I don't want to take any chances), and a suggestion for a distinct color (keeping in mind that the background is dark blue).
