While I wasn't a child-actor, I did grow up in a theatrical environment because of my mom being a dance instructor...
I, of course, never made it to the Big Time (my Mom almost did..she was a Radio City Music Hall Rockette for awhile and worked with Nat King Cole on Broadway (:)
For my 2 cents, I'd have to say that growing up in a show-biz environment was FUN!!!

Show people have a special ethic that my Mom imprinted on me when I was very young...
It tends to sound cliched, but they're a great set of dictums to live your life by, really...
