There is going to be a new Degrassi series!
For those of you that do not know, Degrassi Junior High, followed by Degrassi High, was a Canadian show (and book series) following the lives of a group of kids. It delt with youth issues, in a story-line format. Amog others, there was a teen pragnicy, a youth questioning his sexuality after his brother came out, the death of one kids parents, and a classic scene, where a mom was a little late leaving for some meeting, due to talking to her kids about sex because, working in a drug store, she had sold a condom to a boy about their age. She opened the door to leave, only to find said boy about the knock for adate with her daughter, which she did not know about. Then her sons friends show up, hooting about a porno take that they had and were planning to watch. They did not realize the mom was there until it was too late....
What can I say? My grade 7 social studies teacher made use of the series.
Anyways, they are making a NEW series, with the next generaion of kids, including the product of that teen-age pragancy mentioned above. As far as I have heard, there is going to be a rememberance of the old Degrassi, a 12 program run of the new, and then a more info-based program. We shall have to see how this goes....
