In his next film, Boorman reportedly will revisit the Arthurian world he explored in "Excalibur." This time, however, the action is focused on a 10-year-old boy.

Is anyone else a fan of T. E. White's "The Once and Future King"? The first section ("The Sword and the Stone") was turned into a Disney animated film. It tells the story of a young boy ("Wart") befriended by an older man ("Merlin"), who teaches the boy life lessons by turning him into various animals. It's a wonderful book. I realize that Boorman's film is not an adaptation of White's book, but the same general theme is apparent.
